There is perhaps no issue right now that is more important to Americans than the economy. We need to do several things in order to get our economy on the right track:
We must make the federal tax cuts permanent.
As a conservative Republican there is no more fundamental economic issue than tax cuts. As we have seen throughout our nation’s history, when we cut taxes the government grows revenue. The reason for that is simple: Americans are better trusted with their money than the federal government is. Increasing taxes on hardworking American people is bad economic policy and will only lead our economy into further angst.
We must stop the pork barrel spending.
As a candidate for Congress I have signed the Earmark Reform Pledge which can be viewed by clicking here. I can’t stress enough how important it is for the federal government to stop wasting money. Every penny that is spent on a “Bridge to Nowhere” or peanut storage is a penny that is not being spent on programs that are important to our hardworking families, veterans, and seniors.
We must protect small businesses from higher taxes and more regulation.
Small business fuels the American economy. We can not allow those running small businesses to face higher taxes and more regulation from the federal government.
We must reform the tax code.
Our current tax code is too difficult and is simply not fair. Reforming the tax code will take a comprehensive, bipartisan effort. I am ready to lead that effort when I am elected to represent the Third District in Congress.
