There is no issue more important to me than protecting our country from radical extremists that are working every minute of every day to harm us.
We must remain on offense in the war on terror.
Whether or not you believe we should have gone to Iraq in the first place, we are there and we must not waiver in the face of adversity. Iraq has become the central theater in the war on terror and it is imperative that we allow the Generals in the field make military decisions. I trust General Petraeus has much better judgment than Nancy Pelosi when it comes to decisions that need to be made in order for us to be successful in defeating those who are working every day to kill Americans.
We must give intelligence agencies the tools they need to keep us safe.
Intelligence agencies are the first line of defense in keeping our country safe. The federal government must give these agencies what they need to keep us safe. Whether we are talking about legislation or resources that they need to do their job, Congress must never impede these agencies that are so important to our national security. I will work tirelessly to ensure that these agencies have what they need from Congress.
We must maintain a strong military.
In this uncertain time with threats across the entire globe we have to maintain the strongest military in the world. I understand the dangers that our world faces and realize that at any time our troops may be asked to go in harm’s way. With that being said, they must have the best equipment and tools that our country can provide.
We must support our troops.
In my opinion, a veteran is a veteran. I hear stories often on the campaign trail of veterans who are not being taken care of. That is fundamentally wrong and we must work as a country to protect those who protect us. Whether it is giving veterans better access to health care or taking care of their families while they are in harm’s way we must do everything in our power to support our troops every way possible.
