(TOMS RIVER, May 16) – On May 13, The Philadelphia Inquirer ran a story discussing serious conflicts of interest that Chris Myers – Vice President of new business development and acquisition at Lockheed Martin – would face if elected to Congress. The possibility of these conflicts of interest became a reality when Chris Myers went on the record saying, “Building solid walls is not the answer…people will just dig under them.” Myers also stated that cameras, sensors, and aircraft are the “best border defense against illegal immigration.” Kelly added, “Myers’ opposition to the border fence is so out of touch with – not only the Republican Party – but mainstream America. HR 6061 (Secure Fence Act of 2006) passed through the House of Representatives by a 283-138 vote. I wonder if Myers...more
(TOMS RIVER, May 15) – Third District Republican candidate for Congress – Freeholder Jack Kelly – today called on Chris Myers to explain why he stands with Nancy Pelosi – not the American people – when it comes to building a fence to help control illegal immigration. In an article in today’s Philadelphia Inquirer, Chris Myers made it clear that he does not favor building a fence at the US-Mexican border saying, "Building solid walls is not the answer... People will just dig under them." Instead Myers would rather use high-tech devices like cameras, sensors, and aircrafts to control the border. In response to Myers’ public repudiation of building the fence Freeholder Jack Kelly issued the following statement: “I could not disagree with Chris Myers more about building a fence at...more

(TOMS RIVER, May 8) – Third District Republican candidate for Congress – Freeholder Jack Kelly – today called on Chris Myers to explain why he missed 26% of Medford Township Council meetings in 2006 and 24% of meetings in 2007. Jack Kelly stated, “Chris Myers has missed 25% of Medford’s council meetings in the past two years. The voters have a right to know where he was and why he didn’t think these meetings were important enough to make. In March of 2004, Chris Myers didn’t even bother to show up to vote on a budget that raised taxes and spending in Medford. Furthermore, on May 1, 2008, Chris said he didn’t think my statement to this effect was true. Well Chris, it is. The residents of the Third District deserve a congressman that will be accountable and ensure they have strong...more

(TOMS RIVER, April 29) – Third District Republican candidate for Congress – Freeholder Jack Kelly – today questioned why his opponent skipped voting in 70% of Republican primary elections since 1997. In response to this revelation Freeholder Jack Kelly issued the following statement: “First, we find out that Chris Myers is supporting the re-election of Frank Lautenberg – one of the most liberal Democrats in the United States Senate –with a personal contribution to his campaign. Now we find out that Chris did not even bother to vote in 70% of Republican primary elections since 1997 – including the Presidential primaries in 2000 and 2004. I think the Republican Primary voters and Republican county committee people Chris has failed to support deserve an explanation on why he has so...more

Jack Kelly today also said that Chris Myers’ second campaign mailer, like the first, attempts to deceive the Republican voters in New Jersey’s Third Congressional District. “Chris Myers is claiming to be a tax-cutter in 2008 – totally ignoring the fact that taxes have increased over 50% in his six years as a councilman or Mayor in Medford,” Kelly said. According to the Burlington County Times and Central Record newspapers, Medford’s local property...more

(TOMS RIVER, April 21) – Third District Republican candidate for Congress – Freeholder Jack Kelly – today said that Chris Myers has launched his direct mail campaign in a “decidedly less than candid and honorable way,” most notably by misrepresenting his record on government spending and staffing. “Chris Myers sent an email out last week telling Third District Republicans to expect a mailer that would give us a chance to get to know him. What we learned is that Chris Myers is somebody who plays fast and loose with the truth,” Kelly said. In the “first district mailer” of his campaign, Myers claims: “He [Myers] cut wasteful spending …” The truth is that from 2001-2007 Medford Township budgets show a 45% INCREASE in appropriations – UP from $14.6 million to $21.2 million...more

At a time when rank-and-file Republicans are working diligently to defeat Lautenberg – a liberal, tax and spend Democrat – it was disheartening to learn that Chris Myers felt so strongly about his support for Lautenberg that he decided to work against the Republican Party by personally contributing to...more

Kelly stated, "With federal tax cuts set to expire in 2010, it is obvious where the Democrats are planning on obtaining the revenue they need to fix their spending addiction. We cannot allow that. Therefore, I encourage limited and responsible measures now to prevent further erosion in our financial and housing markets." ### -- 30 --more
